“It all started with a simple request to acquire 1 or 2 technical books of my interest,” tells us José Luis Ortiz, Digital Systems Technical Lead, who took the initiative together with the Engineering Service Group team. “But in the process we realized that there were several other colleagues who were interested in obtaining specific texts in their respective areas of expertise, so we ended up making a large purchase of several technical books.”
Copies are available at the OSF Planners and System Engineers office, while at SCO the books are located in the ESG office. We chose to use the Coswin tool to coordinate each loan, taking advantage of the fact that all ALMA collaborators already have an account on this platform.

“We invite our colleagues to this restart of activities to help us with some titles, or perhaps we will propose them and they will send us their favorites to add,” says Alicia Fredes, Senior Human Resources Coordinator.

“For quite some time I had the concern to cooperate to enable a small space for reading” says Francisco. “The idea is that everyone can have the freedom to read something they like. Therefore we are preparing an extensive and varied catalog to encourage reading in all of us”.
Francisco is joined by Héctor Marroquín as library coordinator. “We are very enthusiastic because, despite the cyber-attack suffered, we managed to make the logistical arrangements to obtain new titles of different reading categories and to start our Biblio-ARA, which will be inaugurated starting this 2023. Along with that, we will improve our bookstore and the loan system will be on-line through a spreadsheet managed by us as coordinators, from the ALMA network”.
Thanks for this! As a newcomer, I was not aware of the presence of these libraries, much less of the existence of the coswin tool.
Who do I need to talk to to make use of it? And is there an AUI library that could be of mutual use?
