Engagement Workshops: Improving the work experience

For any organization it is essential that its employees feel comfortable and enthusiastic in their workspace. For this reason, we have been conducting engagement workshops with each of our teams.

In these instances, the groups tell us how they are living their work experience and how they would like it to be. In addition, they work on initiatives that they themselves can take to put them into practice.

In the words of Joanna Danger, executive coach of Leadership Consulting Chile, the consulting firm that leads these workshops, engagement is “the experience, energy, enthusiasm, concentration, and the connection that each of us has with our work”.

“Engagement is one of the factors that is statistically connected to results: more productive hours, observation hours, less maintenance problems, those KPIs are very connected,” adds Joanna.

While it is proven that the level of commitment that each person has with their work and with ALMA is high, and is demonstrated on a daily basis, for the purposes of these workshops, engagement refers to how the work produces energy, interest, enthusiasm, and concentration.

And the most important thing has been the high level of participation and enthusiasm shown by the teams.

For César Ríos, our Warehouse Operator, “it was very productive because it was an approach to the company. We were able to express all our points of view, concerns and needs. Hopefully they will materialize and decide on this type of meeting. The people who did the interviews left very happy”.
Rosita Hormann, our Software Engineer agrees that this workshop was necessary because “we get feedback on how we are as a team and it gives us to understand certain issues that we need to improve”.
Regarding the proposals outlined in the workshops, Fabiola Norambuena, our Software Engineer Trainee, says that it was “a wake-up call for everyone because there are activities that were proposed that are super feasible, that do not require any resources and that only lack the willingness. It was a way of saying, ‘there are these ideas, there are people who want to do it, what’s stopping us? That was good.”
The AMG group, who in some of their shifts have shown very good Engagement indicators, can tell us about this proactivity.
For Patricio Puelles, our Mechanical Technician II, everything is due to the fact that in his group “there is good collaboration, friendship, union. From the first day to the last, so we leave happy as a group. We support each other 100%.”

In addition to go out to San Pedro, they share and invite other areas to share these moments of relaxation. “Everyone should be like this because we spend more time here than at home. You have to look for these spaces as you get to know people,” adds Patricio.

Herman Bañados, our AMG Conveyor Operator, adds about this fraternity: “The good thing is that ALMA also provides these opportunities, as with the new multi-court we have now. So here we can do different activities that don’t necessarily involve work, and that generate opportunities to strengthen our group”.
Before the end of the year, we will have carried out 20 of the 23 workshops planned, with the aim of finishing in March 2024. The expectation is that these spaces for conversation will become more and more frequent and self-managed.
