Una reproducci\u00f3n in\u00e9dita que proven\u00eda de unos 50 millones de a\u00f1os luz de la Tierra y que fue captado en el centro de la galaxia M87.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJusto la semana antes de que se hiciera el anuncio, est\u00e1bamos trabajando en el OSF para la campa\u00f1a de VLBI (Very Large Baseline Interferometry) para ese a\u00f1o. Recuerdo que hab\u00eda mucho hermetismo respecto del anuncio, y ni siquiera a los que form\u00e1bamos parte del equipo se nos permit\u00eda ver un adelanto de la imagen que se iba a mostrar d\u00edas despu\u00e9s\u201d, cuenta David.<\/p>\n<p>A cuatro a\u00f1os de aquel hito de la historia de la astronom\u00eda mundial, David recuerda que \u201cel anuncio fue impresionante, con todo el inter\u00e9s p\u00fablico y de la prensa que se hab\u00eda reunido para poder saber los detalles de este gran descubrimiento. Fue un d\u00eda intenso, con entrevistas para muchos medios, y tambi\u00e9n en las redes sociales. En Portugal, este resultado igual tuvo mucha atenci\u00f3n de los medios y me ped\u00edan muchas entrevistas, y al final recib\u00ed un premio de una revista\u201d, recuerda el astr\u00f3nomo europeo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFue de esos momentos que te sientes en lugar cierto a la hora cierta para observar un grupo de centenas de personas llegando a un gran hito en ciencia. In the words of Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Gueth, astronomer and deputy director of the Institute for Millimeter Radio Astronomy (IRAM) in Europe, together we were able to have a virtual observatory the size of the Earth, able to &#8220;read from New York a newspaper open in Paris&#8221;.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; text_text_color=&#8221;#000000&#8243; text_orientation=&#8221;left&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<strong>Observando el futuro<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mientras el momento hist\u00f3rico sigue en la retina de ALMA, nuestro observatorio ya est\u00e1 trabajando en una serie de proyectos con tecnolog\u00eda VLBI, como se hizo en 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Un sistema que nos permite observar uno o varios objetos celestes con la ayuda de un gran n\u00famero de radiotelescopios desplegados en diversos puntos del planeta, y luego procesar los datos en forma conjunta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCada vez hay m\u00e1s estaciones que se suman y eso permitir\u00e1 una mejor calidad de imagen. Por ejemplo, que nos deje estudiar mejor el chorro presente en M87\u201d, explica Hugo.<\/p>\n<p>Durante abril ALMA comenzar\u00e1 a ejecutar observaciones de VLBI en Banda 7 por primera vez. Al observar en mayor frecuencia el conjunto podr\u00e1 obtener mayores detalles.<\/p>\n<p>Hugo also tells us about the long term: &#8220;Later on we are talking about projects not yet confirmed, such as a satellite with which joint VLBI observations will be made to improve the spatial resolution of the image&#8221;.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; text_text_color=&#8221;#000000&#8243; text_orientation=&#8221;left&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Detectar el movimiento del gas: futuro cercano<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ALMA est\u00e1 constantemente mejorando las capacidades t\u00e9cnicas de VLBI, con el fin de aumentar el impacto cient\u00edfico de sus observaciones. \u201cDesde el actual Ciclo 9, se ha ido ampliando el rango de frecuencias disponibles para observar. Originalmente s\u00f3lo se pod\u00edan usar las bandas 3 y 6 para la detecci\u00f3n de emisi\u00f3n del continuo, pero en Ciclo 9 se ampli\u00f3 a Banda 7, es decir, frecuencias m\u00e1s altas, y adem\u00e1s se permiti\u00f3 observar l\u00edneas espectrales en Banda 3. Lo importante aqu\u00ed es que nos permitir\u00e1 detectar el movimiento del gas\u201d, cuenta David.<\/p>\n<p>Para Ciclo 10 se ofrecer\u00e1 un rango mayor de frecuencias, sumando la Banda 1 cuando est\u00e9 disponible. Adem\u00e1s, se podr\u00e1n observar l\u00edneas espectrales usando bandas 3, 6 y 7. Seg\u00fan David, esta mejora en nuestras capacidades permitir\u00e1 a los astr\u00f3nomos expertos \u201crealizar observaciones sin precedentes, mejorando nuestro entendimiento de objetos tan intrigantes como los agujeros negros, entre otros\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>El equipo est\u00e1 justamente ahora verificando el sistema VLBI en el OSF, liderado por el astr\u00f3nomo del MIT Geoff Crew, a fin de preparar las nuevas observaciones que comienzan ma\u00f1ana.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.1&#8243;
