Entre el 12 y el 16 de enero de 2025<\/strong><\/span>, ALMA ocup\u00f3 un lugar destacado en la 245\u00aa reuni\u00f3n de la American Astronomical Society (AAS)<\/strong><\/span> en National Harbor, Maryland<\/strong><\/span>. La conferencia reuni\u00f3 a destacados astr\u00f3nomos, educadores, estudiantes y periodistas para discutir los \u00faltimos avances en astronom\u00eda. La presencia de ALMA fue fuerte, con numerosas presentaciones cient\u00edficas, un taller muy concurrido sobre la Wideband Sensitivity Upgrade (WSU)<\/strong><\/span>, y productivas interacciones con la comunidad.<\/p>\n

Los datos de ALMA fueron clave en varias sesiones, particularmente en aquellas sobre evoluci\u00f3n de discos protoplanetarios, formaci\u00f3n de galaxias y cu\u00e1sares de alto desplazamiento al rojo<\/strong><\/span>. Los aspectos m\u00e1s destacados incluyeron estudios sobre el impacto del WSU en los discos protoplanetarios, la detecci\u00f3n de CO en galaxias distantes y nuevos conocimientos sobre sistemas exoplanetarios<\/strong><\/span>. El Town Hall del NRAO proporcion\u00f3 una plataforma esencial para la puesta al d\u00eda sobre las pr\u00f3ximas capacidades y oportunidades para la comunidad.<\/p>\n

Uno de los momentos m\u00e1s destacados fue el taller de la WSU<\/strong><\/span>, que atrajo a un numeroso p\u00fablico ansioso por conocer los inmensos avances que permite esta actualizaci\u00f3n. El director de ALMA Sean Dougherty<\/strong><\/span> comparti\u00f3 sus impresiones sobre el evento:<\/p>\n

\u201cFue fant\u00e1stico ver las observaciones de ALMA en muchas sesiones y el entusiasmo en torno a la WSU. La concurrencia a la sesi\u00f3n especial sobre el impacto de la WSU en los discos protoplanetarios fue excepcional, viendo los inmensos avances que la WSU permite. M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las sesiones cient\u00edficas, ALMA estuvo bien representada en conferencias de prensa, encuentros con los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n y en la sala de exposiciones<\/strong><\/span>, donde muchos investigadores y estudiantes pudieron informarse sobre las oportunidades de propuestas de ALMA y los pr\u00f3ximos ciclos.<\/p>\n
