Comprised of Claudia Johnson, ALMA Logistics Lead, and her colleague Ana Salinas, ALMA Logistics Assistant, both with more than 15 years at the Observatory, this team ensures the movement, distribution, and supply of the materials that enable science to continue.<\/p>\n

Their work requires coordination with warehouses, carriers, customs agents, and shippers, as well as careful planning to anticipate the needs of scientists and engineers.<\/p>\n

En un entorno desafiante, la log\u00edstica no es solo mover materiales: es sostener el funcionamiento continuo, optimizar costos, anticipar soluciones y mantener encendida la maquinaria que permite a ALMA seguir explorando el universo.<\/p>\n

El impacto en cifras del equipo<\/strong><\/p>\n

Solo en el a\u00f1o 2024 gestionaron 147 operaciones de importaci\u00f3n (USD 10.348.337) y 91 operaciones de exportaci\u00f3n (USD 2.427.185). Para sostener este movimiento, coordinaron 32 camiones mayores en la ruta Santiago\u2013OSF y 41 camiones menores en Santiago, regiones y Antofagasta, movilizando un volumen total de 372 m\u00b3 entre importaciones, exportaciones y compras locales.<\/p>\n

During Q1 and Q2 2025, they have carried out 110 import operations (USD 7,522,051) and 73 export operations (USD 2,847,591), using 19 large trucks and 27 smaller trucks, with a transported volume of 250 m\u00b3. These figures reflect the magnitude of the quiet but essential work that sustains ALMA daily.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n
