Do you recommend?: The “theatrical” Claudia Johnson

Our head of the Logistics Department Claudia Johnson (Claudia Tapia recently changed her legal name) has been working at ALMA for 13 years. But her passion for theater is lifelong. It was one of her first college choices, but she ended up studying engineering.

However, the pandemic made her take up theater again and she enrolled in an online workshop. She is currently in her fourth course, and as a final act, in January they will premiere an adaptation of Hans Pozo’s media case.

Claudia relates her acting skills to her roles at ALMA. “My work in the Logistics department is super transversal: I relate to all kinds of people without seeing faces, or genets because for me they are all the same.” The same adaptability and empathy that allows her to play all kinds of characters.

Her dream is to do a theatrical tour, but here Claudia shares with us her main personal tastes and recommendations:

Reading: The truth is I read very little unless it’s the scripts of my plays or some homework that the theater teacher gives us. However, the books I have read have more to do with historical events or documentaries about Chile. For example: “Operación Siglo XX” (Patricia Verdugo-Carmen Hertz), “Menéndez, rey de la Patagonia” (José Luis Alonso Marchante), “Los Malos” (Leila Guerriero), “Doña Lucía” (Alejandra Matus), and the only poetry book I have read: “Poemas y antipoemas” (Nicanor Parra).
See: I am interested in knowing first who is acting and then I see them. In my cast, the classics: Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Sean Penn, Clint Eastwood, Meryl Streep, Kathy Bates, Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman. Movies that have marked me: “The Color Purple”, “Schindler’s List”, “Precious”, “Million Dollar Baby”, “Misery”. As for series: “Breaking Bad”, “Friends”, “Lost”, “Merlí”, “La casa de papel”, “Homeland”. Plays: All the plays of the company Teatrocinema, they are all amazing. Laura Pizarro ¡IDOL!, I would love to be like her.
Listening: A little bit of everything, but never Reggaeton or Trap. My favorites: Depeche Mode, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Muse, Metallica, Rammstein, The Chemical Brothers, Pulp, Blondie, Placebo, Lucybell, Los Prisioneros, Los Tres, Radiohead, Inti-Illimani, Los Jaivas.

Eating: Sushi, seafood and ice cream.

Drinking: I like beer, sparkling wine and gin. I do NOT like wine.

Follow / Admire: I don’t know…

Think / Believe: Actually just leave a message: “Children be happy and respectful. Don’t lose hope, Chile will one day be a fair country.”

Do / Practice: I enjoy any activity that is outdoors: trekking, bootcamp training, hiking, camping, going to hot springs.

Dress: Heels of all colors, and you can never miss a black garment.

Travel: Having traveled alone to New York in 2019 was an unforgettable experience. I also dream of many places that I am sure I will visit someday… but my biggest dream is to tour with the theater company and perform in a festival in Europe.
