We invite you to join ARA\u2019s Soccer, an opportunity to play with ALMA staff, promote respect, foster camaraderie, and enhance teamwork and collaboration.<\/p>\n
All ALMA staff, as well as ESO and AUI personnel, are welcome to participate. Laura G\u00f3mez, Activity Coordinator and Astronomer with the Data Management Group<\/strong>, explains: \u201cThe cost of renting the field is covered thanks to ARA\u2019s financial support from April to December. Outside this period, the cost is shared among the participants of that day\u2019s event.\u201d<\/p>\n The fields are designed for the recommended seven-a-side format. Occasionally, when more than 20 participants sign up for a specific day, mini-tournaments are organized.<\/p>\n 10 YEARS OF THE HISTORY<\/p>\n <\/strong>This initiative began in 2015 when a group of staff expressed interest in playing soccer, and a suitable location relatively close to ALMA SCO was found. Since then, participants have created stories, traditions, and unforgettable moments. The group has also competed in the Mixed Baby Soccer Championship organized by ECLAC<\/strong> for two consecutive years.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.19.1″ _module_preset=”default” min_height=”450.7px” custom_margin=”12px|auto|-32px|auto|false|false” custom_padding=”0px|0px||||” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.19.1″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.19.1″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#FFFFFF” text_orientation=”justified” min_height=”509.1px” custom_margin=”19px||92px||false|false” custom_padding=”0px||7px|||” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Participant Insights <\/strong><\/p>\n Alex Valenzuela, IT Support Specialist II<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThis type of activity helps to de-stress and socialize with colleagues in a more relaxed environment, without pressure and with a spirit of collaboration rather than competition. You can play at your own pace\u2014whether passing the ball or running the field\u2014depending on your condition. Everyone, from younger to senior participants, is welcome. And it\u2019s not just ALMA staff; external collaborators working with us or with ESO join too, making it diverse in every sense.\u201d<\/p>\n Francisca Solis, Software Engineer Trainee<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI find this a very beneficial opportunity to foster camaraderie among the different people working at ALMA. I also believe it strengthens the sense of belonging to a group, in this case, to our institution, yielding multiple benefits that translate into work, such as fostering a team vision to face various challenges. Moreover, I think it\u2019s incredibly enriching to share with colleagues from various areas and positions in a different context, like in the field.
