This year was particularly special for ALMA: we exceeded 4,300 hours of observation, we were able to observe the interstellar comet 3I\/Atlas, we monitored stellar activity in Proxima and Alpha Centauri, while continuing to make progress on the Wideband Sensitivity Upgrade (WSU).<\/p>\n
To bid farewell to the year and celebrate these achievements, we gathered at the End of Year Dinner at the OSF and at the Corfo Stadium for those who work at SCO, where we recognized individuals who have contributed for 5, 10, and 15 years at ALMA, leaving a unique legacy at the observatory.<\/p>\n
The winners of the 2025 Fundamental Statement Awards were also honored in different categories:<\/p>\n
Excellence<\/strong>, intended for those who strive for excellence in their work, improving the observatory’s performance and results: Sebasti\u00e1n Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, Front Line Software Support Engineer, Nicol\u00e1s Pe\u00f1a<\/strong>, Engineer I (Electronics), and Nicol\u00e1s Bravo<\/strong>, Technical Dataflow Engineer.<\/p>\n Respect and Diversity<\/strong>, recognizing those who contribute to ALMA’s commitment to diversity and respect for all: Tetsuya Ito<\/strong>, Engineer II, Mark Gallilee<\/strong>, Technical Mechanical Lead, and Valezka Galdames<\/strong>, HR Officer.<\/p>\n Collaboration<\/strong>, for those who build and participate in collaboration with individuals and\/or teams to achieve better solutions and outstanding results: Alonso Allendes<\/strong>, Hospitality Services Coordinator, Francisco Belmar<\/strong>, Technician II (Electronics), and Francisca Sol\u00eds<\/strong>, Software Engineer Trainee.<\/p>\n Care<\/strong>, for those who put the safety of each of us and our colleagues first, respect the environment and the culture in which we operate, use all our resources conscientiously, and protect the privacy and security of confidential, sensitive, or private information: Jorge Sebasti\u00e1n Castillo<\/strong>, Technician I (Electronics), Hern\u00e1n Latorre<\/strong>, Specialist Engineer – Electric, and Maryluz Jara<\/strong>, General Services Supervisor.<\/p>\n Curiosity<\/strong>, awarded to the person who best represents our purpose: to encourage human curiosity about the universe and its cosmic origins: Sandro Cisterna<\/strong>, IT System Specialist I.<\/p>\n In addition, ARA Band presented a video performing Interstate Love Song<\/em> by Stone Temple Pilots<\/em>.<\/p>\n
